Sherrie Todd was born in Everett, Washington, but grew up in Alberta, Canada after her mother remarried when Sherrie was five.
Having roots and relatives on both sides of the 49th Parallel/Canadian-American Border, gave this writer a unique perspective of blended families from an early age.
Her professional life took odd turns and detours then came full circle.
In high school she wrote for and edited her monthly school newspaper. Without encouragement in journalism, Sherrie floundered for a career direction until she took a summer job with Chevron Canada.
From Chevron to geology at the University of Alberta, and computer programing, to Syncrude Canada in their Information Services led to technical writing and then Exploration Editor for Oil Week Magazine. After the birth of her children, Sherrie was once again back to newspapers.
In late 1990 Sherrie’s personal life came full circle too when she returned to live in the U.S. after marrying a divorced father of three. They met earlier that same year in February when a mutual friend set Sherrie up on a surprise blind-date with a business associate visiting Alberta from Colorado.
