Ironically, we have the Roman Empire to ‘thank for uniting most of the European real estate up to about the year 306 AD. And in the 20th Century, we have many of those same United Nations to ‘thank’ for the devastating circumstances Earth/Eden faces in this 21st Century…
Prior to Roman Empire plundering, pillaging and occupation, few of the emerging principalities knew much if anything about each other beyond a neighboring village raid. However, after the ancient Romans marched from what is now Italy to the shores of everything around the Mediterranean then w-a-y north to what is now England, other clan chiefs and kings were suddenly ‘inspired’ to expand their own territories.
With the fall of the Roman Empire no longer a military threat, unfortunately the inspired chiefs and kings began to use the same plundering, pillaging and occupation tactics they learned from the Romans. By 400 AD three major career choices for males of the human species were either the church, farming, or the military.
And, a constant cycle of: land-grabs from invasions, then counter [revenge] invasions to take back the stolen land, plus some more from the original invader—kept life for humans in the Middle East and European territories in a constant mode of uncertainty and terror. Effectively, one ‘big-bully’ was replaced by several smaller bullies…
Okay, so where am I going with this? **One bad-apple can and has spoiled the whole bunch and human evolution [ancient and present] is packed with corrupt, self-serving people posing as leaders. But, cruel control is not leadership…
Perhaps foolishly—I’m attempting to tiptoe into yet another Iraeli-Palestinian conflict the latest of which exploded October 7th. WHY? Because - this latest issue is too important and should be viewed f-a-r away from any of the ego-driven-political elements of those who [presently] control management in the affairs of state for the vast majority of civilized people who do not seek, nor have ever pursued aggression toward any fellow humans.
The 1946 map [above] prior to the United Nations resettlement of displaced WWII Jews looked like this… Palestine was established Arab territory. After the 1947 United Nations resettlement Partition Plan redistribution of territory between Palestinian’s and Jews looked like the map below. There were only defined ‘regions’ but no clear two-state border [east to west] directly north of Jerusalem.
After the United Nations countries carved out a designated Jewish State from this region, they pretty much left the Jews and Palestinians to live together on the honor system. But those hasty votes in the United Nations hadn’t counted on a sudden migration of more displaced Jews from all neighboring Arab countries and other global regions. Between 1948 and 1951 that global migration doubled the Jewish population to 700,000. Approximately 300,000 alone in those three short years came from Asian and North American countries.
And they kept coming. By 1975 the population was 3.39M.
Predicably this explosion in the Jewish population caused a squeeze on [land] space. To address this, Jewish ‘government’ officials began to set policies that steadily encroached more and more onto land held by Palestinian citizens.
Naturally encroachment caused displacement of Palestinians. Increasing resentment created hostility among Palestinians and officials. And we all know exactly who was/is caught between official policies that don’t truly consider all citizens fairly - and they are - everyday Jewish and Palestinian people who only seek peace. Teachers, doctors, engineers, farmers, small business owners try to merge—to live in a dual culture. They could succeed if they didn’t need to live with shifting aggressive [government] policies that keep all citizens at risk. Today, the map below is what the region looks like.
The Jewish population in this region is now 7.14 M with the Palestinians and others at 2.59 M. [In 1946 the Muslim, Arab population was 1.86M, so what do those numbers tell us?]
Over the last seven decades did Israeli governing officials [after decades of oppression in so many European countries] move too aggressively to establish a separate Jewish State at the cost of becoming an oppressor themselves? If so, who holds up the mirror to reflect that back to them?
Did certain members of the United Nations [to lessen their own guilt after WWII] hastily create a resettlement so out of balance that thousands of innocent people were doomed to seven decades of civil unrest and war? If so, then is it now the responsibility of the United Nations to [finally] negotiate a fair land distribution with a clear border for two distinct states?
I’m not picking sides - there are no good guys here only victims - and my heart breaks for both using history as my guide…
Great research.....gives a total perspective on the history of the region. Agree with Wayne that the UN is a joke. Well done Sherrie!

Israel has proven it's not interested in a two state solution, that's number 1 , Number 2, after years of capture and mistreatment Palestinian's ( not talking about Hamas ) aren't to interested in continuing to live the way they have since 2006 when they got fenced in. Having the UN fix anything is a joke - they messed up big 76 years ago and the issues you have describe haven't improved. Sadly, Israel has stepped in it big this time and all those Arab neighbors are not exactly the same ones that were around in 1967 - There will be a resolution but it may not be in Israel's favor this time. And the world may see World War 3 over it.
