I do understand--If only we had 'fairy-dust'...if only the globe had people with 'only' the best of intentions...if only we could live with our doors unlocked...if only...
Sherrie you sprinkled a lot of fairy dust on people moving all around the globe, maybe in normal times but countries being flooded and over run with people that are not like themselves is not a good idea.......ever. We all want the same things really, peace and harmony, food, water and shelter and our own space.....with our own kind.
I once live in a province that the majority of people looked like me and spoke my language and we all ate the same food basically. Then slowly we started getting more ethnic people and languages and foods, and for a time that was do able. Now I watch the news and I see in the malls and all around me people that don't look like me, names I can't pronounce and I don't hear my language. I am not in the same country......and that is a shock. I want to live with my own kind and my small town is still that place......for now.
Some borders where more of a mistake then others - Israel comes to mind - that said - humans have sacrificed billions of people over history for these "Arbitrary" Lines. And no doubt some immigration has enriched the new country. I guess it all comes down to standards of living and time. Because of the utter theft, fraud and incompetence of world Governments - we have MASS migrations!!! These people seek a better life - some where else (Like the US, like the EU) because they gave up on their home!!! That's the reality of it - they didn't, or couldn't fix their home - so now they come to your shores. Question is ...where will you migrate to when the US goes in the tank - did that get discussed at the dinner table???
I don't see the U.S. tanking - there's too many people with far more than I have to lose who will not allow that - people who already have far more influence than I'll ever have as well. Since the end of WWII we've had even more freedoms and more prosperity and 'more' of everything in general - but if I 'had' to leave - I like the island of Newfoundland.
Interesting insights. Like your doctor (thank God for him/her) as you know I came from Mexico and under today's ideology I would be a " dreamer". I pray I have made even a small contribution to our country.
Also an interesting sideline, in the bible Abraham is called from his "country" to go to the land of milk and honey, yet there were people already in that land and he was "forced" to go to war to take possession of that land God had promised him! To this day those areas of the world continue to fight each other, each claiming to own the land. Will it ever end?
